Despite decades of investment in youth services, young people continue to face increasing mental health challenges, educational disengagement, and a crisis of connection.

We believe the missing piece is not more content - but deeper, more authentic connection.

Who are we?

Youth Engagement Project is an Australian-based organisation dedicated to transforming how adults connect with, support, and inspire young people.

We equip schools, speakers, and organisations with the skills, tools, and insight to create real, measurable engagement - not just for a day, but for a lifetime.

Our goal is to help educators and organisations build a legacy of genuine engagement where they can drive meaningful change by allowing young people to be heard, inspired and empowered to shape their own future.

A Message from the Founders

Welcome to Youth Engagement Project.

Hi! We’re Amanda and Skye, and together with our team, we’re so glad you’re here.

Youth Engagement Project (or YEP as we like to call ourselves), exists to support the people who support young people.

We’ve spent over a decade working across classrooms, councils, and community spaces - leading programs, training teams, and building capacity across the youth sector. And what we’ve seen, time and time again, is this:

Young people don’t just need more services. They need deeper connection.

Despite more funding and programs than ever, youth wellbeing continues to decline. We believe the missing link is not more systems - it’s more meaningful engagement.

That’s why YEP focuses on training, tools, and real-world strategies that empower educators, facilitators, youth workers, professionals and community leaders to connect with young people in ways that are trauma-informed, psychologically safe, and genuinely impactful.

If you’re here, it’s because you care. You’re committed to doing this work better - and we’re here to back you with everything we’ve got.

Because every young person deserves to feel seen, heard, and inspired, and the way we engage can be the turning point.

Let’s make it meaningful.

Yours in supporting our young people,

Amanda and Skye

Meet Skye and Amanda - educators, speakers, and trainers with decades of combined experience in youth work, teaching, and facilitation.

Their shared belief: Engagement isn’t a tactic, it’s a responsibility.

Meet Skye

Youth Engagement Project Co-Founder

Skye is a speaker, trainer, author and passionate advocate for youth engagement, blending her love for education and community with her down-to-earth personality. A self-proclaimed foodie (weekend Bunnings snag, anyone?), Skye is happiest outdoors on a camping trip, enjoying a loaded cheese board on board game nights with friends, or hanging out with her golden retriever, Pickles. As the eldest of four, she’s used to bringing people together and always aims to approach life with curiosity rather than judgement.

Professionally, Skye brings extensive expertise in youth engagement and facilitation training, backed by her completion of public speaking training at Stanford University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Education, and Graduate Certificates in both Careers Education and Community Development. Having worked in education for over 10 years, she is passionate about supporting those who give their time every day to the next generation, as she believes those who support young people, also need support themselves.

Known for her relatable and dynamic presentation style, Skye’s work is all about creating real, lasting change - one connection (and curiosity) at a time.

Meet Amanda

Youth Engagement Project Co-Founder

Amanda Marshall is a down-to-earth powerhouse with a heart of gold and a love of the ocean, breathwork and pilates. She suffers from severe food envy and often counteracts this by ordering multiple items on a menu. With seven years of experience living and working in diverse education spaces in the Northern Territory, Amanda brings a unique perspective to her work at Youth Engagement Project, where she trains and empowers youth-focused professionals to make a meaningful impact in young people’s lives.

Armed with an MBA and a Bachelor of Education, Amanda combines her expertise in project development, consultation, and education delivery to guide educators, facilitators, and organisations toward transformative outcomes. Amanda is passionate about fostering environments where everyone feels valued and supported, and she’s known for her genuine warmth and boundless capacity for connection.

When she’s not leading impactful sessions, Amanda can be found sharing a meal with way too many condiments (extra gravy, anyone?), advocating for the people and communities she cares about, or planning her next adventure with loved ones.

Meet Meg

Youth Engagement Project Relationships Manager

Meg is a natural connector, avid tea drinker, and passionate veggie-grower. She is always down for a good chat and digging in the garden. She brings warmth, curiosity, and a fierce love for people into her work as Relationships Manager at the Youth Engagement Project. Whether she’s building partnerships with schools and organisations, swapping stories with facilitators, or supporting communities to better engage with young people, Meg leads with empathy, presence, and a genuine belief in the power of relationships to spark real change.

With a background in youth leadership, camp programs, and community development, Meg holds formal qualifications in Global Governance (specialising in human rights and social change) and Human Health and Development. She’s also trained in public speaking, facilitation, and communication. Her true superpower lies in her ability to make people feel seen, heard, and inspired. Meg is all about the long game - creating spaces that are not only inclusive, but transformative. She’s known for her grounded energy, deep listening, and ability to find calm in chaos (and chaos in group chats).

When she’s not busy growing connections (or flowers), you’ll find her booking spontaneous trips, wandering a local market, or turning up to your place with a plant and a hot cup of tea, ready for a chit chat.
