Youth Communication
and Public Speaking Events

Why attend an event?

Young people today are navigating a world that looks and feels very different from the one we grew up in. Gen Z brings unique strengths, values, and challenges - and the way we communicate with them matters.

By attending a Youth Engagement Project workshop, you’ll:

  • Increase your confidence in engaging with young people in any setting.

  • Gain practical strategies that make conversations more meaningful and effective.

  • Understand Gen Z’s perspective, so you can build stronger relationships based on trust and respect.

  • Create more inclusive spaces where young people feel safe to contribute and connect.

  • Invest in your impact, leaving with tools you can immediately apply in your work, classroom, or community.

This isn’t just about theory - it’s about walking away with actionable approaches that make communication with young people easier, clearer, and more authentic.

Online Learning Series: Getting Through to Young People

Workshop 1: Behind the Behaviour: What’s Really Driving Young People

When: Thursday, 11th June 2026

Where: Online (Zoom link will be sent)

Time: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

In this 90-minute session, we move beyond surface-level behaviour to understand what’s really driving how young people respond, react, and engage.

You’ll explore key frameworks, including the Vulnerability Guard, PACE, and Common Ground, to better understand what sits beneath resistance, shutdown, and emotional responses. We’ll also unpack the Escalation Wave and the role of co-regulation, giving you practical strategies to respond calmly and effectively in challenging moments.

This session is designed to help you shift from reacting to behaviour to understanding it - so you can respond in ways that reduce escalation, build trust, and support regulation.

Workshop 2: What Actually Motivates Young People Today

When: Thursday, 25th June 2026

Where: Online (Zoom link will be sent)

Time: 9:30 am - 11:00 am

If motivation feels harder than it used to be, you’re not imagining it.

In this 90-minute session, we unpack what’s shaping the current teen landscape and why traditional approaches to motivation don’t always land the same way anymore.

Using frameworks such as the Engagement Continuum, Risk and Gradient, and the Connection Recipe, you’ll explore what drives participation, effort, and disengagement in young people today.

You’ll leave with practical strategies to create environments where young people feel safe to engage, willing to participate, and more intrinsically motivated to contribute.

Workshop 3: The Adult Young People Need

When: Thursday, 16th July 2026

Where: Online (Zoom link will be sent)

Time: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Understanding young people is one thing, but knowing how to show up in a way that actually connects is another.

In this 90-minute session, we focus on the role you play in shaping engagement, trust, and influence. You’ll explore the Mentor Mindset and reframe stress as a challenge, while building practical skills in how you communicate, respond, and relate in real-time.

We’ll unpack what it looks like to lead with connection while maintaining clear boundaries, including language shifts, tone, and in-the-moment responses that reduce resistance and increase trust.

This session is designed to help you become someone young people feel safe with, open to, and more willing to listen to, even in challenging moments.
